What does the Program Consist of?
The summer school program operates from 8:30-4:00 Mondays thru Thursdays, Fridays are from 8:30-3:00 for the children. On these Fridays, the staff holds weekly training sessions and meetings to provide the best continuing service to our clients. Additional afterschool care is available til 5:15 pm on Mondays thru Thursdays.
During our summer school program we work on retaining current skills for the upcoming school year, teaching new language skills which increase communication skills, reducing problematic behavior, increase socialization skills, and academic skills. Our program operates on a 1:1 ratio. Your child's therapist will have a college degree in related field, such as education or psychology. In addition, each of our therapists goes through intensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior Therapy that will help each child learn better.
What do we do for you?
The Applied Behavior Center for Autism is the only full service center in Indiana. We complete all the necessary funding applications, authorizations, re-authorizations, and forms. In addition, we submit all the billing and handle all issues concerning funding that may arise. These services provide our families to spend more time with their child(ren). We also provide highly trained therapist, BCBA qualified behaviorist, all necessary therapy materials, and other essential therapy program material. We also cover the cost of community outings and other socialization activities.
In addition, we will assess your child with the A.B.L.L.S-R assessment that covers 25 different skill areas including language and communication skills, academic, socialization, and several other areas. We will provide you with the baseline data of these areas and create an individual treatment plan that fits your individual child. One of our Board Certified will consult with you and your child's therapist(s) on a regular basis to ensure that the best program is provided to your child.
In addition, one of our program coordinators will oversee your therapist and your child's program to assure progress, training of therapist, and support to our staff and you on an ongoing basis.
A progress meeting is held at the end of the summer session, which includes a progress report will be held with each family. The child's therapist(s), your program supervisor, and one of our BCBA's will meet with each family to discuss the child's progress during that quarter. At the end of the summer session, each parent is given a progress report, a progress video, and a progress meeting is held. Honestly, there is no other program like ours in the Midwest.
Is Transportation available?

Additional regions may be available, so please contact us with questions concerning this matter. We attempt to make enrollment possible for families. In accordance with Indiana law, all applicable children will need to be placed in a child or booster seat when being transported.
Is my child a candidate?
The summer school program is available for children ages 3 and up with an autism spectrum disorder. Our program is created for the benefit of children and their families, so there are no prerequisites; however our team will discuss placement with each family and determine if placement within our program will be beneficial to your child. We work with a variety of different children and approach each child's education with the individual attention that it needs and deserves.
How much therapy does my child need?
The length of a child's program is dependant upon the individual child. However, most children receive between 20-40 hours of therapy a week and 4-10 hours of ABA/Behavior consulting per month. We offer both part time (20 hours) and full time slots (approximately 36.5 hours) This is the amount of treatment that is proven by research to the most effective amount of intervention. Do I need consultation from an ABA expert?
To be effective, ABA and Verbal Behavior Therapy must be delivered by individuals with extensive training in the methods, under the ongoing supervision of professionals who have had advanced training and experience in ABA principles and methods. All of our programs overseen by one of our Board Certified Behavior Analyst. In addition, our administrative/behavioral staff will oversee each child's program daily. Within our three supervisory staff, we have over 28 years of experience working with children with Autism, while our 3 behavioral staff members have over 52 years of experience.
Beginning a child's Program?
Programs are individualized based on the child’s skill level. Baseline data is taken from the A.B.L.L.S-R assessment, direct observation, past assessments, and input form parents. All of this information is gathered to create an Individual Treatment Plan and Behavior Intervention Plan, if necessary for each child. In addition, a data book is created for each child that tracks their progress during our program. Parental input is essential to develop and maintain a successful program. Input from parents is always welcome and we maintain the understanding that "A parent will always know their child better than anyone else."
What are Parents Responsible for?
Each parent is responsible for bringing and picking up their child on time. In addition, each child will need to bring their own lunch, due to any special dietary conditions or allergies. If a child is not fully potty trained, please bring the necessary materials needed and an extra set of clothes. In accordance with Indiana law, all applicable children will need to be placed in a child or booster seat when riding to and from any community outings that may be scheduled.
We hope that the information above is helpful to you. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us or fill out an online enrollment form.
