PostHeaderIcon Home Programs

What does the Program Consist of?

Our home programs typically operate during the weekday daytime hours, Mondays thru Fridays. Home programs offer more flexibility in scheduling, however we offer home programs on a half-day or full-day basis only due to logistics, including therapist staffing.

Within our home programs, we work on teaching new language skills, which increase communication skills, reduce problematic behavior, increasing socialization skills, and academic skills. Our program operates on a 1:1 ratio. Your child's therapist will have a college degree in either education or psychology. In addition, each of our therapists goes through intensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior that will help each child learn better. Additional trainings include First Aid, CPR, Professional Crisis Management (PCM), Social Skills Training, and various other applicable trainings.

Children are also welcome to join our community outings and Field Trips at no additional cost to the family. In addition, students within home programs may come to our center-based program during operation hours to work with other students or staff on social skills development or any additional skills that would be better served within our center environment.

What do we do for you?

The Applied Behavior Center for Autism is the only full service center in Indiana. This means that we complete all the necessary funding applications, authorizations, re-authorizations, billing, and other forms. These services are provided to our families so that they can spend more time with their child(ren) and less time worry about these issues.

In addition, we provide and train our therapists to the highest standards in the state. All of our programs include Master's and Ph.D level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (B.C.B.A) qualified behaviorists and all necessary therapy materials are provided. We also cover the cost of community outings and other socialization activities as well as transportation to the location in our 12-passenger van.

Is Transportation available?

We currently offer pick up/drop off transportation service to most of the Hamilton county area with our 12 passenger Van. Additional regions may be available, so please contact us with questions concerning this matter. We attempt to make enrollment possible for families. In accordance with Indiana law, all applicable children will need to be placed in a child or booster seat when being transported.

Is my child a candidate?

Our home programs are available for children ages 3 and up with an autism spectrum disorder. Our programs are created for the benefit of children and their families, so there are no specific prerequisites; however our team will discuss placement with each family and determine if placement within a program will be beneficial to your child. We work with a variety of different children and approach each child's education with the individual attention that it needs and deserves.

How much therapy does my child need?

The length of a child's program is dependant upon the individual child. However, most children receive between 20-40 hours of therapy a week and 4-10 hours of ABA/Behavior consulting per month. This is the amount of treatment is proven by research to the most effective amount of intervention. To find out more about coverage, please click here.  (Link to Insurance Webpage)

What does to program consist of?

Each program consists of therapy sessions, which are comprised of periods of instruction interspersed with reinforcement and necessary sensory breaks. Direct Instruction, Natural environment, and incidental teaching take place during this time. Therapy time is filled with learning, reinforcement and other positive learning activities. The specific needs of your child, based upon the data and assessment, will be addressed throughout the day. Learning never stops within the context of our day.

Programs are individualized based on the child’s skill level. Baseline data is taken from the A.B.L.L.S-R assessment or the VB-MAPP, direct observation, past assessments, and input form parents. All of this information is gathered to create an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), if necessary for each child. In addition, a data book is created for each child that tracks its progress during our program. Parental input is essential to develop and maintain a successful program. Input from parents is always welcome and we maintain the understanding that "A parent will always know their child better than anyone else."

These programs, will be overseen by one of our Board Certified Behavior Analyst and one of our program coordinators. They will oversee your child's therapist(s) and your child's program to assure progress, training of therapist(s), and support to the staff and you on an ongoing basis. In addition, they will coordinate any parent training, questions, or other logistics questions that you might have.

Does the program address social skills development?

Although not as easily addressed compared to our center-based program, Social skills can be addressed systematically throughout the program beginning with one-to-one peer interactions, then small groups, later moving to more advanced social skills by using natural environment situations with novel peers, community outings, field trips, or time within our center based program.

Do I need consultation from an ABA expert?

To be effective, ABA and Verbal Behavior Therapy must be delivered by individuals with extensive training in the methods, under the ongoing supervision of professionals who have had advanced training and experience in ABA principles and methods. All of our programs overseen by one of our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and program coordinators.

What are Parents Responsible for?

Each parent is responsible for providing a therapy area within the home that the therapist and child can use. Therapy material will be provided to the parent at no cost for use within the home. Each child will need to provide their own lunch, due to any special dietary conditions or allergies. If a child is not fully potty trained, please be sure to have the necessary materials needed and an extra set of clothes available.
